About the opportunity
Uniting is seeking Local Area Coordinators in the following areas:
Northern Sydney– Brookvale, Ryde & Hornsby
Western Sydney – Parramatta, Blacktown
Southern NSW – Queanbeyan, Merimbula, Batemans Bay
As a Local Area Coordinator with Uniting, you will be an important aspect of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). You will work closely with people with disabilities, building goals and enabling them to direct and control their own lives. Furthermore, you will work as a Partner in the Community to build awareness and inclusivity within the local community.
Key responsibilities will include:
Meeting with participants as their first point of contact with the NDIS, assisting them with developing their goals as part of their First Plan and transitioning them onto the Scheme
Assisting participants to implement their plans, including building community inclusion and capacity
Incrementally complete scheduled plan reviews and follow up and provide support to participants as needeBe a Partner in the Community, building awareness of the Scheme throughout the local area.
Skills & Experience
You have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in customer facing environments that support or provide services to people with a disability.
You are an active community member who is enthusiastic about supporting and empowering people with disability.
You have lived experience with disability, or awareness of the impact of disability, either existing or acquired, upon individuals and their involvement in the community.
Qualifications in a relevant field will be advantageous.
